Contact
We start by identifying potential candidates who meet our initial criteria. Once contacted, they are provided with detailed information about the surrogacy process. This step allows us to assess their initial understanding, readiness, and willingness to embark on the surrogacy journey.
Interviews
Candidates who express a genuine interest undergo a series of in-depth interviews. We explore their motivations, personal background, and emotional readiness to ensure they are fully committed to the process. This stage also helps us ensure that they are not part of a vulnerable group and that they have the stability and support needed for a successful journey.
Home Visits
To further guarantee the suitability of each surrogate, we conduct at-home visits. This allows us to assess the living conditions and ensure that the surrogate has a supportive and safe environment. During this visit, we also ensure that their family and anyone living with them fully understands the surrogacy process and its inherit risks, including the responsibilities and emotional commitments involved. We make sure the surrogate’s support system is on board and prepared for the journey ahead.
Medical Evaluation
Our medical partners then perform comprehensive health assessments, labs and screenings to confirm the candidate’s physical ability to carry a successful pregnancy. This thorough medical evaluation prioritizes the health and safety of both the surrogate and the baby.
Psychological Evaluation
To ensure emotional preparedness, candidates undergo a final psychological evaluation. This step ensures that the surrogate is mentally, emotionally, and psychologically aligned with the responsibilities and potential challenges of the surrogacy journey. We emphasize that surrogates, as well as their families, have an extensive understanding of the risks involved, ensuring they are fully prepared and supported throughout the process.
Meeting with Intended Parents
Once the surrogate passes the medical and psychological evaluations, she meets with the intended parents. This meeting allows both parties to ensure they are a good match in terms of expectations, values, and communication. Building a relationship founded on mutual trust and understanding is crucial to the success of the surrogacy journey.
Matching
After all evaluations, meetings and contracts are completed, and once both the surrogate and intended parents feel comfortable moving forward, the matching process is finalized. This marks the official beginning of their shared journey, with both parties supported by The Denver Dads every step of the way.

Why Our Selection Process is Unique

At The Denver Dads, we take great care to ensure that our surrogate selection process is thorough and supportive. We have a dedicated full-time Gestational Carrier Coordinator who has personally been a surrogate herself and deeply understands the process from the perspective of a gestational carrier. In addition, we have a full-time staff member with a background in social work, who conducts home visits and has also been a surrogate twice before. Both team members are uniquely qualified to ensure our surrogates are treated with dignity and respect, drawing from their personal experiences and educational backgrounds.

As part of our process, we conduct home visits to verify that surrogates live in stable environments and have a strong support system at home. We ensure that the surrogate’s family fully understands the journey and the associated risks, preparing them to offer the emotional and logistical support needed throughout the surrogacy process.
